Nowadays, due to the increasing trend of do it yourself, we want to install our own cement tiles which has our own color design. The fact that including all stages of designing and installing of tiles connects us to them more. Our guide here will not be enough for someone who has not previously install floor tiles. But as clear as for someone who has been install tiles before.
Since the tiles you are going to install are handmade, their thickness can vary from 16 mm to 18 mm. It is known that the height of your floor will be between 18 mm and 19 mm. If the surface to be applied is a dry, clean and evenly-matched surface, you will not have to make a lot of adjustments during installing.
First of all, if you are not good enough at construction work, you need a craftsman.
There is a need for cement mortar, trowel and water balance to mount the mix. Floor Tile laying starts from against the entrance of the room. Decoration of the space is planned before installing. Make sure that the floor of the space to be decorated is clean. The tiles are laid side by side like the floor. It is ensured that the motifs of each tile coincide with each other. Then the bonding mortar is prepared This mortar should not be too juicy or too rigid. The mortar is applied under the tiles and the tiles are pasted one by one. After each bonding, the surface should be checked with a water leveler. If the tiles are grinded, each tile surface should be cleaned with a wet cloth. The reason for this is that there is no height difference between the tiles and that it is evenly distributed over the surface of the tile. If the tiles are grinded tiles, the tiled surface of each tile should be cleaned with a wet cloth. If the mortar is pitted on the surface and it is not cleaned immediately, it may damage your tiles. The mortar may dry up. It may be necessary to do a grinding process which will be costly.
There is no need to constantly clean the wiping cloth for non-grinded cement tiles. If you are installing non-grinded tiles, you will need a polishing machine after the flooring is finished. After the tiles have been laid and dried, the entire surface should be grind with a polishing machine.
If we were to explain the grinded tiles briefly; The tiles are left to dry after they are produced. The cement is continuously wetted during the drying process because the cement is completely hardened. A porous structure is formed on the surface of the cement drywall. This structure creates a matt and dirty look on the tile surface. The grinding process subtracts 2 mm from the color layer on the surface of the cement tile to ensure a smooth and shiny surface.
If you want to install your cement tiles on the wall, you should first start the order on the floor. Here, too, you need to be careful that the tile patterns are match to each other. You should use grinded tile on the wall. Because after the installing is completed, there will not be a machine to perform a cleaning operation. Do not give a joint gap between the tiles because the joint will not be used for cement tiles like standard ceramic wall tiles. You have to install from bottom to top so that the tiles are exactly adhered to each other. Measure the balance with a water balance after each run. And clean the surface of your tiles often with a damp cloth.
After 12 hours, all the tiles will be completely dry and ready for use.
